Melissa HenryCYFM Assistant
Melissa Henry has been working with preschool children since she was in high school. She started working at the Child Development Center at 15. Even during her college years at California Lutheran University, she made time to work with the CDC. She graduated with her degree in 1996 and earned her teaching credential in 1998. She began teaching 1st grade in Oxnard School District. Since the district was year round, she came back to Mount Cross on her month long breaks to help substitute. With some changes in her life, she decided not to work full time and left her first graders behind…to come back more regularly to different positions at the CDC. It allowed her more flexibility to travel with her husband- and they are happy to share stories of their many Habitat for Humanity build trips around the world. Just ask them! She has been faithfully helping lead the Fun with Faith group for the last few years. She loves to delve into the gospel reading a few days before most of us are even thinking about it. She finds it deepens her faith to read and think and pray over it- and then talk about it with our children. They always surprise her with their take on the Bible text. Together, the discussion helps open her eyes to a new aspect of God. She hopes that is true for the children as well. << Go back to "Meet the Staff." |
