De-brief latest events….
Lefse
making….stage 1 and 2, stage one had great turn-out, almost too many, fun day
but didn’t get all our orders filled, stage two replaced a hike we were going
to try and do over the break, we had Ross, Ian, as college helpers, Brett,
Sarah Weed, Amy Carr, and Gail Weed (parent) also helped, managed to fill
almost all the orders, only have two deliveries left to make
Alma Via
caroling…had five students show up, they helped with chapel and singing
Sunday
school…thanks to those who helped with Christmas program
Up-coming events…
Care
packages….we will need to bring items for Feb. coffeehouse…do want to divide
this up between leadership team? Who is
going to bring what?
-decided to
make a list of suggested items and put it out to the whole group…leadership
team will make sure to bring some of the items
Winter
camp…Feb. 24…need to start getting sign-ups…see flyer
Ig-night….High
School all-nighter…March 23…would replace March 24 scavenger event…is this
ok? I’ve started planning with other
youth workers….we missed this last year and some on the team said they would be
interested in doing it this year
-everyone
liked the idea and said we should do it…we will need to get the word out on the
schedule change
Casa Pacifica…we have an opportunity to lead
worship at Casa Pacifica for the kids who live there..would you be interested in
helping to facilitate this?
-the
consensus was that this would be a good thing to do and that some of the
leadership team would be willing to help out
National Gathering…update= 24 students registered,
$4,350 sent in as deposit, tickets ordered on Southwest Airlines and have put
down $1,450 to hold them, need to confirm Slidell and get hotel
reservations, also looking into booking
some other tours during possible free time
Fundraising for National Gathering…Lefse
fundraiser made $215…we need to kick in the envelope idea and start marketing
it with skits, announcements etc., would like to get some people to do a
testimony of what a difference donors investment makes, this could be written
and spoken…also, do we want to try the parking lot sale again?...do we want to
do some smaller things like car wash or valentine’s day or easter
candy?...or should we just focus on envelopes, make, bake, celebrate, and easter breakfast?
-Consensus
was that we should really focus on the envelope idea. The rummage sale made a lot of money and
people were open to doing it, but we would need a motivated parent to take
charge. Car wash might be do-able too
and something fun, but would not raise a lot of money.
-decided to
launch the envelope push on Feb. 12 (Sunday after Super Bowl weekend)…we need
to make a display board and schedule youth to do temple talks and stand by
display
