The Breakdown
between Pastor John and Pastor Erik:
Youth= PE (Pastor John takes about 2-3 confirmation classes a year and helps to teach Fun with Faith, he also helps with VBS)
Service and Missions= PE……PJ will participate in some things like giving blood or
going on Tijuana Trip last year
Worship= PE & PJ…..we both attend worship committee, PJ preaches 2 Sundays in a
row PE preaches 1--this is a general pattern, whoever is preaching plans service outline, PE plans contemporary outline each week and leads music at that service, PJ point during Lent because PE has Confirmation, We collaborate on Easter Sunday, Summer themes are generally collaborative, although PJ takes more of the lead
Stewardship= PJ…..PE will attend stewardship dinner and help if needed during the
Program, PE also helps to promote stewardship emphasis during
worship
Weddings and Funerals= PJ is point man….PE will generally assist with funerals unless
PJ has been gone or there is a special connection and PE
takes weddings only if PJ cannot or there is a special connection
Stephen Ministry= PJ…..PE has taken Stephen Leadership training, taught a class one
night and done one night of continuing ed.
Hospital Visits= PJ generally is point man and PE may supplement visits on PJ’s day-
off, unless PE has had first contact or has established relationship with the
individual in which case PE may take the lead, usually try to visit at least two times a week if someone is in the hospital
Communion visits= generally 50/50, but may depend upon the month, we have had
different systems at different times to track this
Potential/ New Members and Home visits= No current system, at the discretion of
individual pastor
Adult Education/ Bible Study= PE and PJ take turns doing men’s breakfast, both attend
Wednesday morning study, PE is point on Spirit Café
Take turns developing Adult Sunday School themes, PE teaches Adult Ed two Sundays in a row and then PJ does one
Personnel= PJ takes the lead as “human resource” person and sits on Personnel
committee although PE attends some meetings as well and has been involved in the interview processes for new staff
Music Staff= PJ Church council= PJ Caring= PJ
Housemissions= has been PE now PJ would like to do more with it
Mutual Ministry and Executive Committee= PJ and PE
Evangelism= PJ.
