Pastor John W. Soyster

Pastor John is a native Californian, born and raised in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, and a graduate of Cal State Northridge (Class of ‘74). He attended Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California and graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota (Class of ’79). He served two churches in Minneapolis, Minnesota and one in Glendale, California before being called to Mount Cross in 1991.

Pastor John is married to Leslie and between them they have three children: Jason (married to Sarah) and Rachel are John’s; Whitney is Leslie’s. On his day off he likes to get out into his garage for woodworking projects or take a lesson on his clarinet – which he picked up again after about a forty year hiatus.
