New Member Committee – Update Report

Hello All,
I have started to process of
identifying the goal and scope of this initiative and have met with Pastor John
to determine the highest priority action steps to build church membership. My goal is to form a committee of 2-3 Mount
Cross Members to serve. Pastor John will be assisting me with identifying the
names of potential committee members.
Upon forming the committee, defining the game plan and executing, we
could expect to increase church membership by 10% in the next 12 – 18
months. With Pastor John’s help, we have
identified the Top 6 Initiatives to reach this goal. After further review and discussion,
establish annual committee budget – perhaps in range of $1,500 – $2,000.

additional suggestions throughout this journey!
Top 6 Initiatives:
Leverage Current Mount Cross
Membership to reach out to neighbors, friends, relatives, colleagues, etc. (80% of all new church membership is
attributed to relationships with existing church members.)
‹ Identify neighborhood communities throughout
‹ Personal, face to face invitations to prospective
visitors/members. Create small ‘invitation card’ for Mount Cross Members to
hand out – includes address, small map and worship service times.
‹ Steve and/or Pastors to knock on doors in neighborhood
surrounding Mount Cross – extending a personal invitation to visit and worship
at Mount Cross
‹ Plan and conduct “Block Party” in Mount Cross Neighborhood
to reach prospective members. Offer Live
Music, Activities, participation of Local Police Department.
‹ Establish ‘Visitor Sunday(s)’ where every member is
encouraged to bring (1) visitor to service.
‹ Outreach to Community Groups, AA, Alanon,
Narcotics Anonymous. Promote and invite use of
Update Visitor Kiosk.
‹ New Signage, photos, contact info,
etc. Steve to contact Property Committee regarding a ‘face lift’ for current
Kiosk. Gordon Berg, Carol Paul.
‹ Ask Greeters to encourage all visitors to stop by Kiosk
after Church Service.
Identify and contact all recent
visitors who have not yet become confirmed members of
‹ Revamp ‘Red Book’ Process.
‹ Formal follow up to all visitors, letter/note from Pastors,
phone follow up from New Member Committee members.
Create “Come See” Video (3-5
Minutes) of
‹ Highlight and promote various service formats, groups,
activities, Music Series, Pre School Program, etc.
‹ Inspiring, upbeat, uplifting message with music aimed at
prospective visitors, and new members.
Prepare and distribute ‘Visitors
Gift/Welcome Package’
‹ Include key information, Mount Cross Who we are, services
‹ Include useful items as reminders, i.e., Mount Cross Coffee
Cup, Pens,
Use of Non Paid
Advertising/Promotion
‹ Articles in Acorn and other local news by church members and
leadership.
‹ Social networking sites, i.e. Facebook,
Steve to investigate how other local churches might be using these venues.
‹ Create 1 Page ‘Hand out’ to local hotels, places of
business. Chamber of commerce, with Mount Cross Info, map and service times.
