Learning Meeting Minutes

October 2, 2008

 

Attending: Sharon, Tracy, Josh, Caroline, Pastor Erik joined us after youth band practice

 

Council item:

Next year’s budget needs to be turned in to council by 10/14.  Josh needs to get this info to our council liaison, Paul Fickenscher, before 10/14.  Learning advised Josh to review Renae Rhodes old info to determine budget requirements for each area he is in charge of. 

 

Adult ed – Jenny Christensen requested an extra $350. to the adult ed budget for women’s bible study.

Josh needs Renae Rhodes old notes.  We were unable to locate her packet, left for us in his box.    

 

Sunday school.  Josh is planning to budget to buy bibles for 3rd grade students.  He will buy a case.

 

Sharon and Josh discussed who is doing what?  What does Josh need Sharon to do?  Josh would like to focus on increasing attendance.  Josh will ask teachers to leave attendance charts in baskets.  Advised Josh to put “poster theme of the month in the grapevine” 

 

Sharon had a teacher team request that one of the pastors lead prayer in the SS opening.

 

Christmas Play – We should be working on this now.  We gave Josh some referrals for people to lead the Christmas play. Caroline will give Josh “friendly beasts” play, cd, etc.

 

Josh to do a letter of introduction to parents & list SS teachers in each class. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

FWF

Halloween party to be changed to a trip to Moorpark to Underwood Farms.  Josh to advise parents of change. 

 

We discussed with Josh how things are going to date, for him.  He asked that we could be direct with regards to our expectations of him.  We also asked him to let us know when he isn’t getting what he needs.  Asked Josh to do a report monthly for learning to outline where he is spending his 20 hours per week. 

 

Discussed with Josh about how to contact students (no personal or individual text messages)  Group texts are fine.

 

High School

Concert trip last week to see Third Day/Switchfoot.  Great time, great fellowship opportunity. 

Relay for life is scheduled for 10/12.  Sharon reports there is a lack of involvement, lack of commitment this year. 

 

CLU trip scheduled for 10/19 has 10 kids signed up to date. 

 

Confirmation -  Good group of guides.  Skating event next weekend.  Kits are due this coming Wednesday. 

 

Next meeting  Thursday, November 6th @ 7:00.
