One of the biggest
off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time, Godspell is coming to Mount
Cross July 7-10, 2010. Based primarily
on the Gospel of Matthew, it features music by Stephen Schwartz (Pippin and Wicked are two
of his other shows). Godspell boasts a
string of recognizable songs, led by the international hit, "Day By
Day." The show opened in 1971 Off-Broadway and transferred to Broadway in
1976 – a total of over 2,600 performances. Godspell gives the
audience a chance to see the parables of Jesus Christ come to life in a new
way. The show also touchingly presents the story of Jesus' last moments
beginning with the Last Supper.
The cast includes
many Mount Cross high school students.
The show is being produced and directed by Noah Skultety who recently
appeared in the Camarillo Community
Theater production of Oklahoma! and who recently directed the Rio Mesa High School production of Grease.
Show dates and
times: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday &
Saturday nights, July 7-10, 2010 at 7:00PM.
Special Saturday matinee, July 10 at 2:00 PM.
Admission: All tickets will be sold as "suggested
donation." Suggested donation is $7.00 for children, congregation member,
students, military, and seniors/ $10.00 general admission. Tickets will be sold through a pre sale
program, and at the door.
Sponsor
the show: There will be opportunities for members of
the church and community to sponsor the show by placing a paid advertisement in

Production Plan: Godspell
Producer/Director: Noah Skultety. As
producer/director, I will be in charge of paying all expenses for the show
upfront. The expenses that I, as the producer, will cover are: Royalties,
Publicity Prints, Costumes (if necessary), and for a Band. What is asked of the
church is to provide a rehearsal space when needed and a venue to perform
Godspell. As the Director I will have the responsibility of making sure that
everything and everyone involved with the production are in top condition,
assisting actors with character development, and putting actors in the
remaining roles in the show.
Music
Director:
Hannah Tasker. As music director, Hannah will be responsible for teaching all
involved with the show the music. She will place actors in sections (tenors,
bass, altos, sopranos, baritone, etc.) so we may have harmony. The Music
Director will assist in making any casting decisions for the remaining roles in
the show.
Choreographer: Tia Brandt. As Choreographer, Tia is in charge of all dance and
movement aspect of Godspell, leading stretches before any dance rehearsal, and
assisting actors with any dance needs.
Costume: Godspell is very
simple to show to costume design. The concept for the show is to have all
involved in everyday modern clothing... as if we could just blend into the
audience. We do not want anything over the top due to the fact that we do not
want to take anything away from the message or the music of the show.
