Fellowship
Committee Report
Date of Meeting: Friday, December 8, 2006
Those Present: Desta Goehner, Melissa Henry, Melinda Sheller (liaison), Patti Stouch, Anne Valencia
Scheduled events:
1. Hanging of the Greens: The committee had offered to assist Denise Sobolik with the decorating of the church due to her family responsibilities. However, Gail Baird has volunteered to be in charge this year.
2. Saturday morning hiking: Marilyn Gardner is organizing a group to meet each Sat. morning for informal hikes. All are welcome to attend on any Saturday that they are interested.
This is currently advertised in the Grapevine.
3. Sunday School Program - LIGHT (Let’s Invite God into our Hearts Tonight) Event:
The committee has organized this fellowship event to coordinate with the Sunday School Christmas Program and the Living Nativity (Sunday, Dec. 17th at 4 p.m.). It consists of:
*Pre-program snacks for the children in the classrooms
*A free-will pizza dinner for everyone following the Sunday School program. Reservations are being taken but all are welcome.
*Personal invitations to those who normally could not come to event due to transportation issues. Transportation has been arranged along with post-program community Christmas light viewing in private cars (including “to-go” hot chocolate!).
4. All-church family camp-out in Santa Paula - April 27-29. Trinity Presbyterian Church will be invited to join us. Details and sign-ups to come in January.
5. Make-it Bake-it: We have checked with the committee and they would like to hold the event on March 10th (date is still being checked). Fellowship has offered to help as needed.
6. Classical piano concert - Jan. 28th, 2:00 p.m. Barbara D’Addario is in charge of this but the committee is available to help her as needed. At this point she needs assistance with set-up and serving of refreshments. We have let her know that a member of the Property committee needs to be present when the piano is moved to the altar area.
Tentative events:
1. Possible potluck either before or after the January Annual Meeting. This needs to be finalized after checking with the Stewardship Committee. Possible theme: Tailgate party with the catch phrase “Go the extra yard. Give a little more.” More details to come if approved.
2. Adult event sometime in Feb./March. Details to come.
3. Family Bowling Night in the Spring. Details to come.
4. Fajnor Ice Hockey party - we are checking with Scott to see if he wants to host this year.
Business:
1. A Fellowship Committee binder will be in the church office with records and details of each event. This will be helpful for reference from year to year.
Respectfully submitted,
Melinda Sheller (liaison)
